ABOUT THIS BLOG

After 6 years of trying, starting over, and failing to decide what this blog should be, I’m finally publishing it! With a wide variety of experiences, skills, and passions, this blog may take different shapes and forms, but the goal of each post will always be the same - to share insights that help build confidence and skills that go “beyond the surface.”

Current Focus: As a recent computer science graduate, I’m super passionate about technology and would love to remove some of the barriers that make this field so daunting for many people. I’m also going to write about what I learned during some of the main professional milestones I’ve reached, and hopefully, I can help others feel more confident in facing those milestones themselves!

Hi! I’m JESS

I’m 24 years old and living in Minneapolis MN. I completed my BS in Computer Science at UMN-Twin Cities in December 2021 and started my first full-time job at 3M as an IT Data Deployment Analyst in January 2022. In high school, I was very active in business-related clubs such as DECA and have supported a few startups since then. Throughout my time in these experiences, I’ve gained skills that allow me to be confident and successful in professional interactions such as interviews, presentations, and career fairs. Whether you are working to prepare for one of these, want to hear how I learned to balance a CS course load, or just generally want to hear about what I have learned from my experiences as a woman in the technology field, I hope this blog can provide some helpful insight!
